ELAC BS 63.2

After us the speaker FS 67.2 in the last issue of HIFI TEST convinced by sound, we now want to know what it is about the quality of the compact bookshelf speaker BS ordered 63.2.

Facilities

In the compact speakers from the line 60.2 at the Kiel manufacturer Elac take care of a 140-mm woofer and a 25-mm Seidekalotte to the reproduction of music. The diaphragm of the woofer is a sandwich construction made of aluminum and paper: Low weight and low resonance susceptibility are the advantages of that design. Behind the grille of the tweeter, which determines from 2.300 Hz the musical events, a wave guide for controlled broadband emission. The neodymium magnet system of the tweeter is equipped with a heat sink to increase the carrying capacity. Magnetically held the fabric front covers, so no holes are for receiving the brackets to see the glossy fronts - very nice! Two versions are available: black ash or dark walnut, each with black-painted baffles. On the back of the bass reflex tubes OS 63.2 and the single-wiring terminals are located.

Sound

After importing the Elac BS 63.2 make clear very quickly that can be enjoyed especially with these compact speakers music. They show absolutely critical in terms of placement. On a pedestal in the listening room free standing or positioned on the shelf near the wall, the OS 63.2 sound alike very free and open. We like the very slim vote of the bass, which allows a crisp playback of complex bass lines. Although it lacks a bit of stress around the bottom, but this is offset by the great precision over. The timing is perfect, middle and high frequencies are non-staining and neutral. The Elac BS 63.2 sounds really good and sometimes even tolerate the odd spirited twist of the volume control without prejudice.

Laboratory

Also in the metrology lab convinced the Elac BS 63.2 fully: The frequency response is very balanced and only slightly raised super high.
